About Lafayette School of Guitar
Creating Performance Ready Guitarists
That's the standard we hold ourselves to at Lafayette School of Guitar. Not just players who can noodle through a few chords at home — but guitarists who have the skills, confidence, and musical understanding to perform if they ever choose to. Whether you ever step on a stage or not, that's the level we're building toward.
About Joshua
I'm Joshua LeBlanc, owner and head instructor at Lafayette School of Guitar. I started the school in 2018 with a simple goal — to give students the kind of instruction and real results I wish every player had access to.
My background as a professional musician spans nearly 20 years of touring as both a solo artist and with bands. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in Jazz Studies and Guitar from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and I've spent years studying under some of the most effective guitar educators in the world through the Elite Guitar Teachers Inner Circle — an international organization dedicated to advancing the standards of guitar instruction.
Since opening, I've helped hundreds of guitarists at every level overcome obstacles, build real skills, and play music they're proud of.
What "Performance Ready" Actually Means
It doesn't mean you're required to perform. It means that by the time you've put in the work, you could — and that's a completely different standard than just going through the motions of learning songs.
Performance ready means your technique holds up under pressure. Your timing is solid. You understand what you're playing and why. You can play with other musicians. You have the kind of musical foundation that makes everything you do on the guitar feel intentional rather than accidental.
That's what we're building toward from day one.
